2015 IGRC Young Clergy Initiative
Clergy under 40 years-old are invited to register for the Young Clergy Initiative. It is being planned by young clergy for young clergy with presentations by young clergy from around the connection.
Dates and presenters include:
March 17: Jacob Armstrong, founding pastor, Providence UMC, Mt. Juliet, TN (http://provumc.net/). Topic: Exegeting Your Community and Preaching (and Leading Worship) to Connect with Your Community (he is co-authoring a book with Adam Hamilton and Mike Slaughter on Exegeting Your Community which will be released this spring)
June 9: Ken Nash, teaching pastor at Cornerstone Church, Caledonia, MI (http://www.cornerstonemi.org/). Topics: How to Lead the Older Generations in Your Church and How to Reproduce Leaders
Sept. 1: Rachel Gilmore, founding pastor of The Gathering, Virginia Beach, VA (http://www.thegatheringumcvb.com/). Topics: Evangelism in the 21st Century (both social media and outreach events) and Small Group/Discipleship Ministries in Small Churches
Nov. 2-3: Scott and Wendy Chrostek, both on staff at Church of the Resurrection. Wendy is Congregational Care Pastor and Scott is Campus Pastor of Resurrection Downtown. (www.cor.org). Topics: Creating a Culture of Invitation and Finding Ways to Connect the Disconnected.
The June workshop will be held at Peoria 1st UMC the day before annual conference. The other workshops will be held at Springfield 1st UMC. All workshops will be 9:30 am-4:30 pm, except November, which will be 1:30 pm-5:30 pm on Monday and 8:30 am-4:00 pm on Tuesday.
The cost is $200 per person and includes all workshops including lunch on the full-day workshops.
