How to Reach Younger Adults
Younger people are finding their way: To a new area, a new living space, new relationships, a new career, and other new chapters. One thing younger people are NOT doing is finding their way to church. But if they do find their way to a church, will it be yours? You want every generation present in your church's life.
In 2014, the Office of Congregational Development is offering a new process of training and coaching to help churches more effectively build relationships with and reach younger adults. The process includes a workshop March 14-15, 2014, followed by a year of coaching, including a tune up workshop in the fall of 2014.
Steve James, an Associate of Griffith Coaching and founder of GoSeeLove, will be the trainer and coach.
When: The initial workshop March 14-15, 2014, (Friday, 6:00-8:30 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.). The dates for coaching will be determined, as will the date for the tune-up workshop.
Where: Tuscola United Methodist Church, 901 N. Prairie St., Tuscola.
Team participation: A team including the pastor and 3 to 8 lay people must attend the workshop. This is NOT just continuing education for the pastor. It is a church process.
Cost: Total cost for participation in the process is $1,200 per church and includes registration for both workshops and coaching. The cost also includes lunch and snacks at the workshops, but does not include overnight lodging, if needed, or transportation costs for participants. Hotels in Tuscola include Holiday Inn Express, Baymont Inn, and Super 8.

Registration Deadline: Registration will close on February 15, 2014, or when 20 churches have submitted covenants and payment, whichever comes first.
Grant funds available: Churches can request a grant to cover up to half of the registration cost. Contact Mike Crawford, Coordinator of Congregational Development, to receive a grant request form to be completed and submitted by the Church Council.
Space limitations: A maximum of 20 church teams will be able to participate and registration will fill on a first-come/first-served basis.
