The United Methodist Church
The United Methodist Church — open hearts, open minds, open doors. We all share a faith in Jesus Christ, but The United Methodist Church encourages us to think for ourselves, so we don’t necessarily share the same opinions about every faith issue or social concern. And there are lots of us: 8.5 million United Methodists live in the U.S., and 1.5 million more worldwide, with the largest growth in membership occurring in Africa and the Philippines.
General Board of Discipleship
The General Board of Discipleship (GBOD, one of the General Agencies of The United Methodist Church, receives a portion of its revenue from the World Service Fund. This fund supports the churchwide work of the denomination. The World Service Fund is financed by apportionments - financial support that each church provides to enable denomination-wide ministries.
Board of Global Ministries
The General Board of Global Ministries, the global mission agency of The United Methodist Church, seeks to be faithful to God's mission throughout the world. It is rooted in The United Methodist Church's outreach across all boundaries that divide the human family. It is theologically centered in witness to God's self-giving love in Jesus Christ.
General Board of Pensions
The General Board of Pension and Health Benefits is a not-for-profit administrative agency of The United Methodist Church, responsible for the general supervision and administration of the retirement, health and welfare benefit plans, programs and funds for more than 74,000 active and retired clergy and lay employees of the Church.
InfoServe
InfoServ is a ministry of United Methodist Communications. Ask anything about the United Methodist Church, and someone will find the answer or at least send you in the right direction.
Igniting Ministry
The purpose of Igniting Ministry is to proclaim the gospel as we reach these goals: increase awareness and recognition of The United Methodist Church's basic beliefs; foster among non-members a positive feeling and willingness to visit a United Methodist church; and renew a sense of commitment in United Methodists. Through Igniting Ministry, local United Methodist congregations can raise their identity in their communities.
