The Roby church building began as the Mount Pleasant UBC, 3 1/2 miles southeast of Mechanicsburg in Sangamon County sometime before 1873. The Mount Pleasant church was on several circuits throughout the years - Salem, Springfield, and Mount Pleasant. The Roby Church was organized in 1929 and at this time the Mount Pleasant Church was moved across the Sangamon River to the village of Roby. Due to declining membership and financial hardship, the Illinois Conference of the EUB agreed to its discontinuance |
