IGRC passes 80 percent mark on Imagine No Malaria goal
Dear Friends in Christ Jesus:
It has been two years since I invited you to join an awesome movement and put your shoulder to the wheel to raise $2.3 million for Imagine No Malaria. Work began in earnest in late fall 2010. You have responded in the most inspiring of ways.
Congregational pledges, lemonade stands, car washes, offerings, dinners, pillows, embroidery, music, golf outings, personal gifts, endowment gifts and at least a dozen more means have been used to close in on the goal. As of this writing, we have raised in cash and pledges $1,885,000. More comes in every week. We have now crossed over the 80 percent mark toward our goal. We are too close not to finish.
As a now deceased gospel music artist used to croon, “I’m too close to turn around.”
We are too close to stop.
Your gifts have already made a difference in real time in claiming a future without deaths due to malaria. When we started we used to say every 30 seconds a child dies of malaria. Your vision, generosity and sacrifice joined with that of others has forced a revision that goes like this: “every 60 seconds a child dies of malaria.” You have moved the clock and that 30 second difference represents tens of thousands of lives. Thank you.
In just a few days, by God’s grace, I will greet many of you face to face in Peoria and I look forward to giving you the most up to date report possible on our continued progress toward the goal.
Let’s cross the goal line together.
Yours in Christ,
Gregory Vaughn Palmer
