Pastoral HistoryOrdained Elder: 1997
Serving: Executive Assistant to the Bishop
Prior Appointments: Decatur Grace Associate; Moline Riverside Lead Pastor; Superintendent - Spoon River District
Relevant Leadership Roles: Cabinet member (9 years); Cabinet Co-Chair (2 years); Chair - Board of Ordained Ministry; Chair - Order of Elders; Delegate to General/Jurisdictional Conference 2004, 2012. Since 2012, Board of Directors of the General Board of Pensions and Health Benefits (GBOPHB).
Experience: 1) Numerous conference boards and committees which have given me a breadth of understanding of IGRC, its congregations, and its members. 2) Participation in a wide variety of jurisdictional and general church leadership events that have increased my knowledge of the UMC. 3) Travel abroad to see the UMC in action in both Liberia and Sierra Leone (Imagine No Malaria net distribution). 4) My background in business administration augments my theological education
Gifts and Passions: My leadership of the church focuses on making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world and the 3 Simple Rules. I strive to make all decisions with those biblically-grounded touchstones in mind. Active listening, respect for all persons, and the ability to offer a calm, balanced voice to anxious or conflicted situations are among the gifts I would bring to the delegation.
Personal Statement: Deeply humbled by the opportunity to have served on two prior delegations, I would consider it a privilege to serve a third time if I am elected.
