Hungarian Mission Partnership
IGRC began yearly mission trips to Budapest in summer of 2014. The Hungarian mission team conduct a conversational English camp for students attending the United Methodist Forrai High School in Budapest. This is a 5 day camp with high school students who have studied English wishing to have more English conversational practice. Students are grouped according to English skills and interactive games and activities are planned for each of the student groups.
This mission trip is also an outreach opportunity to interact with the congregation of the Pest United Methodist Church. There is time to participate in church activities during the week.
Friendships are formed and faith building occurs as IGRC mission participates have time to meet and share with members of the Pest United Methodist Church and learn about The United Methodist Church in Hungary. Some time is also set aside to do some minimal site seeing and learn of the Hungarian culture
To participate in this mission trip, it is not necessary to have teaching experience. The curriculum is already prepared. Anyone with a desire to experience the United Methodist
Church in Hungary and help teenagers have a conversational experience in English may participate in this mission experience.
One unique part of this mission trip is currently IGRC participants are housed in homes of Pest United Methodist Church members. Because of this, the trip size is limited to 12.
