Admin/Biog History According to the Kankakee County History, the Deselm MEC was organized in 1862 by Rev. W. H. Glass. This information cannot be verified because of loss of early church records. However, the contract for construction of the church was signed in 1868. The church was originally built with a tall steeple but it was torn down in 1928 when the church underwent remodeling.

The Deselm Circuit was formed on Oct. 9, 1878 at the 39th session of the Rock River Conference. Deselm has been a part of a charge with Manteno, Wilton Center, Ritchey and Twelve Mile Grove. In 1968, the congregation celebrated their centennial. Due to declining membership, the church closed in 1990.
