Harter appointed Sangamon River District Superintendent

Bishop Gregory V. Palmer has announced the appointment of Rev. Dr. Terry P. Harter as Sangamon River District Superintendent, effective July 1.
Harter, who has served the past 14 years as pastor of Champaign First UMC, will succeed the Rev. Gerald King as conference superintendent. King was previously appointed as pastor of Springfield Laurel UMC.

In conjunction with the challenge for all United Methodists in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference to read through the Bible in the next year beginning Aug. 1, Bishop Gregory V. Palmer and the Cabinet are pleased to announce that every local church pastor and the lay leader of every congregation will be gifted with a copy of the Common English Bible. Two superintendents are returning to familiar geographic territory while a third finds his assignment as being very compatible to his ministry, as Bishop Gregory V. Palmer has announced the appointment of three superintendents to the IGRC Cabinet, effective July 1.

It is often said that pastors never really retire and the Rev. Dr. J. Keith Zimmerman seems to be making sure of that.
In an announcement shared with pastors of the Vermilion River District Jan. 3, Zimmerman announced he will enter retired relationship with the conference effective July 1.
