W. Harold Loyd
Loyd, The Rev. Doctor W. Harold was born in Giles County, TN on December 24th, 1921 and entered eternal life on March 5th, 2011. He was the son of Charlie Neal and Eunice Rackley Loyd. His wife, Valeria Staples Loyd, preceded him in death. Surviving children are John S. Loyd of Asheville, NC, Anne Kovalcik of Eureka Springs, AR and Marti Loyd of Nashville, TN. Grandchildren are Andrew Kovalcik of Eureka Springs, AR and Tim Kovalcik of Decatur, IL and four great-grandchildren, Kaley, Emmery, Isaiah and Sara of Decatur, IL. Dr. Loyd was a graduate of Giles County High School, Martin Methodist College, Carthage College and Garrett Evangelical Seminary. He was awarded the Doctor of Divinity Degree from MacMurray College. He served in the Illinois Great River Conference of the United Methodist Church for forty-five years. Dr. Loyd was a loved and respected member of communities in Giles County, TN, central Illinois, Franklin, TN and McKendree Village in Hermitage, TN. He enjoyed camping, bird watching, and reading. Throughout his life, he served the needs of those around him with kindness, wisdom, and love. A Memorial service will be held in the Chapel of McKendree Village, 4343 Lebanon Rd. in Hermitage, TN on Thursday, March 10th at 3 p.m. Family will greet friends 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at McKendree.
