Vera Bellamy, 98, of Olmsted, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Capitol Care Nursing Home in Springfield.
She was born Nov. 1, 1914 in Pulaski, IL, the daughter of Cecil and Flora (Easter) Bankson. She and Jesse Bellamy were married Apr. 16, 1940. They were married nearly 65 years when he died Mar. 20, 2005.
Vera was a member of the Olmsted United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. During Jesse’s years of ministry in area Methodist Churches, Vera served by his side. She was a loyal friend, neighbor, and pastor's wife.
Her loving family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Peter Holm of Springfield; 3 grandchildren, Matt, Josh, and Ben Holm; 4 great grandchildren, George, Hagen, Gemma, and Ian Holm; her sister-in-law Jean Bankson of Malvern, AR; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband and parents, Vera was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Mannon, Abner, Virgil, and Warren Bankson.
Visitation for Vera Bellamy will be from 4PM to 7PM on Saturday, Sept. 21 and from 12PM to 1:30PM Sunday, Sept. 22 at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin. Funeral services will be at 1:30PM at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin with Pastor Pete Ryan and Rev. Mindy Ferren officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery at Pulaski. Memorial contributions may be made to the Olmsted United Methodist Church.
