Preachers' Aid Society and Benefit Fund

Preacher's Aid Society Header

The Preachers' Aid Society and Benefit Fund (PASBF) began in the Civil War era to support retired clergy and their families. Over the years, the way PASBF has supported retirees and spouses has changed, but PASBF has never waivered from its original purpose.

Currently, PASBF supports retirees by virtually paying for the Medicare Supplement — contributing $3 million in 2011 to the Illinois Great Rivers Conference Health Insurance Plan.

Virgin HealthMiles

Beginning in January of 2012, retirees and spouses in the IGRC health insurance plan can be part of the Virgin HealthMiles program.  You can earn up to $300 during the year simply through your exercise.  You will need a computer to be part of the program and PASBF will pay for your first pedometer.

To enroll, go to www.virginhealthmiles.com/igrc choose “Other” for your department.

Northern Section Challenges Others

Raydean Davis, PASBF Assistant to the Northern section of our conference, has challenged the retirees in other parts of the conference.  Raydean claims that the northern section will accumulate more steps and money from Virgin HealthMiles than the other two sections.  Who will win?  Enroll today and help your section win!

Health Insurance Changes

Retirees and Spouses

Health Insurance: Remains the same

Medicare continues to be your primary health insurance.  The Medicare Supplement is also the same – similar to a Plan F.  The administrator of the plan has changed.

3rd Party Administrator:  Health Scope

Health Scope is the new administrator of the Conference Health Insurance Plan.  Right Choice is no longer with the plan.  You should have received a new medical care card (white with black lettering) for each person on the plan.  If you did not receive a card, contact Robin Coats-Gauss (217-529-2308).

Prescription Drug Coverage:  Medicare Part D Plan

Retirees and Spouses no longer have Prescription Drug coverage as of January 1, 2012.  Each person should have enrolled a Medicare Part D Plan of their choice. Your plan will mail you a Prescription Drug Card with your coverage information.
