2012 IRS Mileage Rates
The Internal Revenue Service announced Dec. 9 the standard mileage rates for 2012.
The rate will increase to 55.5 cents a mile for all business miles driven. This unchanged from the rate which the IRS established July 1, 2011, in recognition of gasoline price increases in a special adjustment for the final six months of the year. The IRS normally updates the mileage rates once a year in the fall for the next calendar year.
The IGRC Standing Rules require that local churches reimburse pastors for church business miles traveled at the standard IRS rate (Rule VI.B.3)
Rates for medical or moving purposes decreased by 0.5 cents to 23 cents per mile and the 14 cent reimbursement for miles driven in service to charitable organizations remained unchanged.
