An invitation to new, creative holiday ideas and practices
11/6/2020
Who knew we could do Halloween without trick or treating from house to house? Families are now sharing that Halloween was more fun this year than ever because they found new, creative ways to celebrate! Here are more ideas for the upcoming holidays!
- Backwards Advent calendar -- instead of opening a flap and getting a piece of chocolate (like many secular Advent calendars) place a large empty bag or basket in a central location. Ask each family member each day to go find something to put in the basket that can be donated (food from the pantry, a used toy, etc.). Involve all in the giving of these items to those in need.
- Family Missions Project -- Create new exciting projects by exploring these or other websites to see how you could start a family missions project, such as choosing an animal to give from Heifer International or selecting one of our conference agencies represented on the Our Conference Our Kids website. UMCOR has a multitude of projects that are for specific needs in addition to natural disasters.
