The Illinois Great Rivers Conference camping program is an extension of the local church’s disciple-making process. Its mission is to provide transforming:
In fulfillment of the camping ministry's mission, programming at both East Bay Camp and Little Grassy Camp makes the most of their locations on lakes, which, along with plentiful timber, invites guests to explore God's creative genius in a leisurely manner, enjoy prolonged experiences of Christian community, forge relationships with God and others through worship, study, mealtimes, and play, and foster growing relationships with Jesus Christ.
Conference youth ministry initiates and supports plans, activities and projects that are of particular interest to youth. It is an advocate for issues of concern to young people and cooperates with boards and agencies of the annual conference, receiving recommendations from and making recommendations to the same.
The youth ministry includes such activities as Junior High and Senior High Initiative Youth Retreats; as well as a network of youth workers involved in youth ministry across the IGRC.
Conference young adult ministry initiates and supports plans, activities and projects that are of particular interest to young adults who are college students, working persons, single and married, between the ages of 18 and 30. The ministry serves as an advocacy group for issues of concern to young adults. It cooperates with the conference boards and agencies, including United Methodist-related campus ministries and chaplaincies to provide for the needs of young adults in The United Methodist Church.
