Our goal is to provide clothes for all men and women parolees within the State of Illinois ( IDOC and Federal BOP ). These clothes are cleaned and pressed free of charge from the members of the Illinois Professional Drycleaners and Launderers.
The purpose is to enable them to dress more suitably for job interviews and for integrating back into the community. With employment they begin earning a living wage and they begin to regain their sense of self- respect as they take their rightful place in our society.
To date, Suits for Success has provided 16,200 articles of clothing to men and women returning to the world outside of prison gates.
This is yet another way for Chaplains to get to know DBOM, and to better understand our desire to help share the love of Christ with incarcerated men and women.
We are on-line at suitsforsuccess.net and you can like us on Facebook.
Disciple Bible Outreach Ministry board member, John Haeffele (East Peoria, IL) is the Midwest Church Partnership and Development Coordinator for Christian Library International, a prison ministry based in Raleigh, NC. Haeffele learned the importance of prison ministries and was introduced to CLI when he was incarcerated in a federal prison in Oklahoma City.
CLI serves 1,600 correctional facilities nationwide with Bibles, Christian books, and correspondence Bible studies.
Since his release in 2013, Haeffele has had speaking opportunities in Atlanta, Raleigh, Charlotte, Chicago and throughout central Illinois. He is the author of the book Therefore I Have Hope.
While we work with Chaplains to get approval for Disciple Bible Studies inside their facilities, DBOM of IL intends to offer connections to CLI resources. This allows inmates to be on a Christian learning path, even before we start studying with them. It also gives potential facilitators the opportunity to help “grade” some of the inmate’s homework, starting them on a path of Christian Interaction with inmates.
If you would like to donate books, review Bible studies or for more information, please e-mail John Haeffele at jhaeffelecli@gmail.com or visit us at www.cli.world
