Fithian UMC recently honored Joy Love Johnston, who has taught first and second grade Sunday School since 1955. She is still teaching after turning 90 in January 2012 and has no plans to retire anytime soon. The July 15 celebration included two of her students from the first class as well as students from her current class. Two of those students – Mason High, left, and Lacey Harrison, right, are pictured with Johnston. Both Mason and Lacey’s parents were former students of Johnston’s. The children are donning paper ears that say, “Listen to God’s word” and the other, “Love the Lord your God withyou’re your heart.” In all, 129 were in attendance for the service and dinner that followed.
