Living Into My Yes

Has God been calling you? Have you finally reached the point where it’s time to say “yes” to God’s call? What does it mean to live into that “yes?”

The “Living Into My Yes” online inquiry session is designed for people of any age or life stage who are beginning to discern a call to some form of vocational ministry but who have not yet officially begun the process toward ordination or licensing. Attendance at one or more of these sessions, while not required, typically comes before a prospective candidate meets with their DS or prepares to attend the Candidacy Summit.

At “Living Into My Yes,” participants will:

  • Reflect on what it means to be called by God.
  • Learn about some of the many ways in which persons engage in ministry through The United Methodist Church in both lay and clergy roles.
  • Discover some of the resources available in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and through the broader UMC to help in their discernment process.
  • Develop a plan for their next steps in responding to God’s call.

Participants will have an opportunity to meet with Ministerial Excellence staff along with other relevant IGRC leaders who can help in participants’ ongoing discernment. Time will also be reserved to answer participants' questions. It is our hope that participation in “Living Into My Yes” will prepare prospective candidates for the Candidacy Summit and the early steps in the licensing or ordination process.
