North Central Jurisdictional Conference

Delegates from the 10 annual conferences that comprise the North Central Jurisdiction will meet Nov. 10-11 online for a special session of the North Central Jurisdiction.

The theme of the special session is Building Beloved Community and will aired from the Michigan Area office in Lansing, Mich. Persons will be able to view the proceedings via a livestream from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 and from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 11. Delegates will be conferencing via Zoom and will be in a secure room to deliberate and participate in breakout sessions which will not be streamed.

In a letter to delegates on Oct. 19, Bishop David Bard, president of the NCJ College of Bishops said that the agenda will consist of three presentation blocks:

  • The Future of The United Methodist Church
  • Dismantling Racism
  • Episcopal Leadership in the Jurisdiction

Special Session Agenda

Wednesday November 10

  • 8:00-8:30 a.m. Worship
  • 8:30- 1 a.m.: Dismantling Racism
    • Presentation and discussion
  • 11 a.m. to noon: Lunch
  • Noon-1:20 p.m. Episcopal Leadership Conversation
    • 20-minute presentation followed by discussion (Rev. Sara Isbell and Bishop David Bard presenting)
    • Delegates will meet in cross-delegation groups (will not be broadcasted)
  • 1:20-1:35 p.m. Break
  • 1:35-4 p.m. The Future United Methodist Church Conversation
    • This section will include presentations and breakout group discussions (breakouts will not be streamed).
      The team planning this conversation expects feedback from the conversations will be used to form a document for consideration of the delegates at Thursday’s plenary session.
