Sims new PASBF administrative assistant
Carol Sims is the new Administrative Assistant for Preachers’ Aid Society and Benefit Fund.
Carol joins PASBF after 35 years of teaching in the Riverton School District. She also was a highly successful high school and junior high volleyball coach, earning nine state titles and 13 state trophies during her career. For the past three years, she was also co-owner and server at the Lighthouse Family Restaurant in Springfield.
“Teachers, like all of us, are life-long learners with a desire to share with others,” Sims said. “That is what this job is all about and I look forward to the opportunity.”
Sims is the daughter of retired pastor Rev. Dr. R. Paul and Jeanne Sims and she has been a long-time lay member to annual conference, was active in the Conference Youth Council in the former Southern Illinois Conference, has been a lay speaker since 1989 and has participated in Walk to Emmaus.
She is a member of the Williamsville UMC and chairs the church’s Administrative Council. She is a past member of Sangamon River District Committee on Ministry and is currently slated to be the new vice-president for the Sangamon River District United Methodist Women.
In her spare time, Carol enjoys reading, travel, photography and golf. She has been to 49 of the 50 states and abroad to Europe. A die-hard Cardinals fan, Carol enjoys volunteering at the Midwest Mission Distribution Center.
