Bishop Frank J. Beard has released the following statement regarding the situation unfolding at the U.S. Capitol today:
"Members and friends of the IGRC:
"Our hearts are broken as we witness a very unfortunate moment in American history. I call upon each one of you to join me in praying for our nation and for its leaders.
"I ask you to pray with me for the peaceful transfer of presidential and congressional power.
"I remind us all of the paraphrased words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., 'we must live together as brothers (and sisters ) or we will perish as fools.'
"Please join me in praying The Lord’s Prayer at the top of each hour, as you are able, for the next 24 hours.
"Please join me in prayer:
'Lord, in your mercy, bring peace and healing to our nation and to our world. Help us to walk together in peace and in love for you and for one another. In Jesus name, Amen.'"
