IGRC mission partnerships now on four continents

By Bunny Wolfe
IGRC Coordinator of Mission and Outreach
What began 10 years ago as a single mission partnership with a west African country has now blossomed into four mission partnerships on four different continents. And there are plenty of opportunities to be involved with them.

As we move forward with this partnership, a new brochure has been prepared. The Liberia Partnership brochure is downloadable from the conference website.  Our two central emphases remain the same:
Pastor Salary Support for the Liberia United Methodist clergy since many pastors serve with minimal or no salary support, particularly in the rural areas:  Pastor Salary Support, Advance  #15124A
Scholarship Support makes education a reality for the children of Liberia to encourage and empower them to chart a better way of life.  Through our conference scholarship program each of us can send a child, who we known by name, to a school in Liberia for one year:  Scholarship Advance #15125B
It has been 10 years since the partnership between our Illinois Great Rivers Conference and the Liberia Annual Conference began

The IGRC mission relationship with Liberia remains strong and active even though we have not been able to physically visit the country since the Ebola outbreak in early 2014.  Currently a new church project, the Bethany United Methodist Church in Buchanan, is nearing completion. A small team is returning in June 2016 with others now planned for late December, 2016 and January 2017.  A teacher training team is also scheduled for summer 2017.  It is time IGRC mission teams return to Liberia!

Upcoming Mission Trips

Perhaps the question to ask is “Where is God calling you to go to experience an international mission trip?” IGRC now offers trips to Honduras, Hungary, Liberia and the Philippines.  Please consider one of these trips in 2017.
The cost of each IGRC mission trip includes airfare, visas if needed, trip insurance and all in country housing, meals, tips and transportation.  The only additional costs to participants are necessary inoculations/medications and whatever items each person purchases to bring home as gifts.
Why are there so many different destinations?  The hope is to make a variety of destinations available knowing that not everyone will feel called to visit a specific country.  Perhaps YOU have always had a deep desire to travel to one of the countries we now offer, but you have never had the opportunity.  With some of the deadlines approaching this fall and early 2017,  NOW IS THE TIME to register for a 2017  IGRC International  mission experience.
