Rev. Lawrence E. Becker, 90, of Hillsboro, Illinois, formerly of Coffeen and Vandalia, passed away Monday, April 06, 2015, in Hillsboro, IL.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Terry Westerfield, officiating. Burial will follow at Green-Hill Cemetery, Rural Fillmore, IL, with Military Rites by Patoka Am. Legion Post #543. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 10, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL and 1 hr. prior to the service on Saturday, at the church. He was born November 13, 1924, in Fillmore, IL, the son of Edward F. & Claudia H. (Kunz) Becker. Married Ila Aileen Brackenbush on May 14, 1947, she passed away March 6, 1967, he married Virginia A. (McNeil) Parr on June 9, 1968, she passed away April 6, 2011. He was a Retired United Methodist Minister; Member of the First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL; Elder in the IL Great Rivers Conference of U.M.C.; a Life Member of Patoka American Legion #543, Patoka, IL; and a WWII Army Veteran.
He is survived by: Son - Eric Parr & Marcia, Coffeen, IL; Daughters - Lynette Ward & Jerry, Vandalia, IL; Cheryl Cain & Denny, Patoka, IL; Diane Walker & Paul, South Bend, IN; Karen Breithaupt & Keith, Swansea, IL; Beth Dust & Eugene, Plymouth, MN; & Teresa Burnett & Steve, Weldon Spring, MO; Son-in-law - Dan Blankenship, Mulberry Grove, IL; 19 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
