Shirley Ann Schmidt Sullivan, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Salisbury, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019. She was born on May 11, 1930, to Frank and Margaret Schmidt, in Shaker Heights, Ohio. A memorial service will be held in July.
Shirley married Daniel J. Sullivan on Oct. 1, 1949. She is survived by her daughters, Laura (David) McCord of Des Moines, Iowa, Mary Ellen Sullivan (Nancy) of Canton, Missouri, Lisa (Kevin Gregg) of Salisbury, Maryland and Andrea Sullivan of N. Ridgeville, Ohio. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Bryan (Amy) Sullivan, Jess McCord, Kyle (Lydia) McCord, Claire (Jason) Mussar, Dylan Gregg and Elijah Gregg and two great-grandchildren, Abby Sullivan and August McCord. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Christopher Sullivan and John Sullivan.
In addition to raising five children and being a Methodist minister’s wife, she worked in a nursing home, hospital, and chiropractic office. She was kind and considerate, often putting others needs before her own.
Shirley loved camping, reading, visiting people, and taking walks outside. Her family was very important to her. She believed in living simply.
