David Edman

David Walter Edman, age 74, of Ottawa, IL, died on March 3, 2022. He was born September 6, 1947, in Joliet, IL, and graduated from Joliet High School. Dave volunteered for the U.S. Air Force and served honorably in Vietnam. He worked at Stepan chemical company for 46 years, 7 months, and 3 days until retiring in 2013. On October 26, 1997, he married his wife Carol (nee Peterson) at Coal City United Methodist Church. He was a member of Open Table United Church of Christ, Ottawa. Dave loved playing baseball, dancing to classic rock, and fishing, especially in Hawaii and the Boundary Waters. Together with his wife he loved traveling, tent camping, and kayaking. He also loved dogs and cats, and, most of all, his family.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, David C. Edman and grandson, Geoffrey. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his mother, Donna Vandygriff (nee Bennett) of Coal City; four sisters, Diane Zapadinsky, Debbie Jolly, Denise Edman, and Lori Muhlenbruch; two sons, Ty Van Quach of Nashville, TN, and David T. Edman of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Tina, Brandon, Son, Trang, Randy, and Britney; four great grandchildren, Brandon Jr., Kymbella, Estelle, and KaDrikus Jr.; Carol's children, David, Wesley, and Nora; and their children, Hana, Sienna, Haley, Eliza, Wyatt, and Emmett.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with Pastor Jennifer Amy-Dressler officiating. As Dave wished, his body has been donated for the benefit of those living, and burial of his ashes will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington, IL, at a later date with full military honors.
