Marie Mosher, 96, of Peoria, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Lutheran Hilliside Village in Peoria. She was born on January 6, 1927, in Kenvir, Ky., to William and Clara (Gregory) Owens. Marie married Rev. Claude Mosher on September 9, 1948, in Hamilton, Ohio. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2021.

Marie is survived by one son, Bill Mosher (Suzette Foster) of Boone, N.C.; one daughter, Susan Roth of Morton; three grandchildren, Sean Mosher, Ryan (Debbie) Mosher and Kristen (Kyle) Peterson Hix; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Curt Mosher of Salem, Ohio and one sister-in-law, Lucille Ellyson of East Rochester, Ohio.

Marie was the first in her family to attend college where she received a B.A. degree in Pre-Med. As a young mother, she worked part-time as a medical lab technician. To be more available for her family Marie later worked many years as a secretary for East Peoria Public Schools and the Washington Chamber of Commerce.

Marie’s sense of adventure began as a teenager when she would ride her bike to the local airport to take flying lessons. As a mother of teenagers, she planned and led numerous family camping vacation tours around the USA. She especially enjoyed experiencing the natural beauty of this country. Later in life she enjoyed trips with extended family to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Marie learned to play piano at an early age, taught her children how to play, and played often at services and programs in her husband’s churches. She took painting lessons and produced several beautiful landscapes. She was also a creative seamstress who made clothes for young daughter Susan and her dolls. She was a consistent source of love and support for her family, friends, and pets.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Preachers’ Aid Society and Benefit Fund, PO Box 19207, Springfield, IL 62794.
