Mary Etta (Mast) Catlin, 93, of Greenwood, IN, passed away on October 3, 2015.
She was born on April 13, 1922, in Elkhart Co., Indiana to the Rev. Plessa and Vada Mae (Laudeman) Mast. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in home economics from Indiana Central College.
Mary Etta is survived by her children; the Rev. A. David (Elaine) Catlin of Martinsville, IN, Cheryl (Les) Larson of Greenwood, IN, the Rev. Dr. Joel (Rev. Donna) Catlin of O’Fallon, IL and Lori (Rodolfo) Catlin Garcia of Granby, CT. Her brothers, Dr. P. Edward Mast and Paul Mast also survive.
She took delight in her 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, the Rev. A. Dale Catlin, and her sister, Jane (Mast) Outcalt.
Mary Etta worked faithfully alongside her husband as he served as pastor for several Evangelical United Brethren and United Methodist churches in Illinois. They lived in Colusa, Galesburg, Springfield, Pekin, Monmouth and Marshall, IL. She fulfilled a lifelong dream when she and her husband traveled to Sumatra, Indonesia as missionaries in 1990.
After her husband’s death in 1992, Mary Etta moved to Greenwood, IN to be near family. She enjoyed traveling, embroidery and family gatherings.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of service at 11:30 am on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Honey Creek United Methodist Church, 2722 S. Honey Creek Road, Greenwood, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 South State Road 135 and Olive Branch Road.
Mary Etta will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery, 1801 West Main Street, Galesburg, IL. A service of Christian burial will be held there at 12:00 on Saturday, October 10. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County, 211 Commerce Drive, Franklin, IN 46131 or a local food pantry of donor's choice.
