Roxy Lotz, 100, formerly of Mahomet, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Champaign County Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 25, 1911, in rural Nebraska to Jonathon and Hattie (Packer) Jamison. Roxy married Thomas Hanna in March 1930. Later she married the Rev. P. Henry Lotz in 1954.
Surviving are a brother, Wayne Jamison of Texas; a son, William T. Hanna of Goleta, Calif.; and a daughter, Rosemary Hanna Wegeng of Savoy. Also surviving are five grandchildren, David Wegeng of Champaign and Carrie Alvarado, Cheryl Hanna, Cindy Stumpo and Karen Arndt, all of California; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers; four sisters; and a granddaughter, Sandra Wegeng (Wirth) Altice.
Roxy graduated from Paris High School in 1929. She worked at the Colson Company in the 1940's, and was mostly a homemaker and a volunteer. She volunteered in the office of Mahomet United Methodist Church for over 13 years. She also helped senior citizens, driving them to appointments, delivering Meals on Wheels and more. She was a member of the United Methodist Women for over 50 years.
Memorials may be made to the Mahomet United Methodist Church (1302 E. South Mahomet Rd, Mahomet) or the First United Methodist Church (304 S. Race, Urbana).
Rev. John Sims of the First United Methodist Church, Urbana will officiate at the celebration of Roxy's life, Thursday, April 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the Windsor of Savoy (401 Burwash Ave.), where she enjoyed living the past 6 years.
