Eleanor Ruth Keiser, 98, of Springfield, passed away Saturday Feb. 25, 2012 at Oak Terrace Healthcare Center.
She was born June 17, 1913 in Mt. Olive, the daughter of David and Gertrude Simpson. She married Oliver A. Keiser Oct. 19, 1935 in Mt. Olive. Rev. Keiser, a United Methodist minister, preceded her in death May 17, 2003.
Mrs. Keiser graduated from Mt. Olive High School and from Browns Business College in Springfield. After graduation she was employed as Librarian and Secretary to the Mt. Olive Principal for four years, and for the next twenty years, she was employed in the Auditing Department at Sears and Roebuck in Springfield. An active member of Laurel United Methodist Church for over 60 years, Eleanor Keiser was a member of the Crafts and Quilters Guild and United Methodist Women.
A deeply loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by a son, Ralph Keiser (wife, Marion) of Naperville; a daughter, Marilyn Keiser of Bloomington, IN; five grandsons and two great granddaughters.
Friends may call Monday Feb. 27, 2012 from 5 to 7:00 PM at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday Feb. 28, 2012 at Laurel United Methodist Church with Dr. Gerald King officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
