Lloyd Davis

2/13/2011

Lloyd E. Davis, 90, Crest Hill, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb 13, 2011, with his family at his side.

Lloyd was born and raised on a farm near Longview, just south of Champaign. Later he attended Indiana Central College in Indianapolis and the Bonebrake Theological Seminary in Ohio, where he was ordained as an EUB Minister. He served the Lord at various congregations in Indiana, Ohio and Illinois, eventually retiring at the Danville Farmer’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Lloyd also taught at the Bismarck Junior High School and worked additional second and third part-time jobs most of his life. His interests included family camping trips, numerous carving projects and fixing things.

Lloyd is preceded by his parents, Roy and Irene (Warnes) Davis; his loving wife, June (Davis); and his grandson, Bryce Davis.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Davis, and son, Larry Davis; also his grandsons, Todd and Tony Picklesimer, and great-granddaughters, Jordan and Courtney. Lloyd’s siblings include his brother Morris Davis and sisters Ferne Hankins and Doris Keyser.

The family thanks the Inn at Willow Falls in Crest Hill for their loving care and the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home for their special care and support to Lloyd and his family.

A very brief graveside service for family and close friends is planned for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb 17, at Danville Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity or church in his memory.

Lloyd Davis will be fondly remembered in our hearts as “God’s minister to all of us.”

Condolences may be sent to a son, Larry Davis, 716 Westshore Drive, Shorewood, IL 60404.
