Noreta Joan O'Dell, age 78, of Salem, passed away Sunday, July 7th, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Clayton, Missouri. She was a housewife, mother, child of God, St. Louis Cardinal and Fighting Illini fan, and member of the Haley Chapel United Methodist Church and Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services for Noreta O'Dell will be held at 10:30 Friday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem, with Sam Totten, Randy Reese, and Dean Beals presiding. Burial in the Paradise Cemetery in Salem. Visitation will be from six to eight Thursday night at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Bible Society or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Survivors include husband - Reverend John L. O'Dell of Salem; two daughters - Patricia Miller and husand Rick of Grover Hill, Ohio and Cindy Nash and husband Keith of Palestine; two sons - John O"dell Junior and wife Penny of Lima, Ohio and Timothy O'Dell and wife Beth of Vincennes, Indiana; grandchildren - Lisa Speith and husband Christopher of Van Wert, Ohio, Diana Tomlinson and husband Jon of Van Wert, Ohio, Melissa Fishburn and husband Steve of Greenwood, Indiana, Blake Nash of Palestine, Stephanie Wukusick and husband Tommy of Lima, Ohio; grat grandchildren - Taylor Tomlinson, Zachary Tomlinson, Kenadie Speith, Haley Speith, Parker Speith, Mason Speith, and Hank Wukusick; and three sisters - Lena Linnenberger of Missouri, Sharon Leasman of Illinois, Sara Madson of California.
Noreta O'Dell was born on June 5th, 1935 in Centralia to David Daughtery and Edna (Ring) Daughtery. Both preceded her in death. She married Reverend John O'Dell on February 17th, 1951 in Centralia. He survives. She was also preceded in death by four brothers - Jim, Ron, Maxie and David; and four sisters - Ester, Marie, Jean and Susie.
