Shirley Mae Leckrone

Shirley Mae Leckrone, 88 of Granite City passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton, IL. 

Shirley was born on September 22, 1927 in Granite City; a daughter to the late Raymond and May M. (Hartung) Luckert. Along with her husband, Shirley dedicated her life to serving others and the Lord. Shirley and her husband started serving churches in Thompson, IL while her husband attended seminary in Dubuque, IA. She and her husband served several churches in Illinois including United Methodist Churches in Glen Carbon, IL, St. Jacob, IL, Pocahontas, IL, Caseyville, IL, Godfrey, IL, Marion, IL, and in O'Fallon, IL. Retiring in 1991and returning to Granite City. 

Shirley is survived by and will be missed by her sons; John Leckrone of Alton, IL, Paul Leckrone of Cottage Hills, IL, Mark and (Linda) Leckrone of Staunton, IL; grandchildren, Joshua and (Michelle) Leckrone, Jarrod and (Racheal) Leckrone, Marla VanSickle; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack and (Dorothy) Luckert, Don and (Doris) Luckert. 

In addition to Shirley's parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Reverend William Eugene Leckrone. 

In celebration of Shirley's life, friends may call on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Rayson officiating at Nameoki United Methodist Church, 1900 Pontoon Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials are suggested to Nameoki United Methodist Church of the Arthritis Foundation. Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City is serving the family.
