Frank A. Williams


Frank A. Williams, 88, of West Point, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, at his home.Frank was born April 1, 1928, a son of Hamil and Lydia (Hull) Williams, in Basco. He graduated from Bowen High School. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a sergeant and received his honorable discharge in 1953. He was a member of the American Legion. On Feb. 13, 1954, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo McGinnis in Mississippi.Frank was a self-employed contractor and carpenter in the area for many years. He was a member of the Stillwell Methodist Church and had served as Sunday School superintendent and also on the church board. Frank served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and was a member of the Lion's Club. He also held many offices with St. Alban's Township and was on the West Point Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and a large number of friends that loved him very much.Frank is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Williams; three children, Linda St. Clair of Loraine, Marcia (Kevin) Avise of Bowen and David (Suzanne Ferguson) Williams of Carthage; grandchildren, Aaron (Laura) St. Clair, Adam St. Clair, Christopher Avise, Michael (Becky) Avise and Jennifer (Garett Sublette) Avise; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Addison and Harrison St. Clair and Daniel Avise; sisters, Shirley Akers of Bowen and Edna Williams of West Point; and also several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Nellie Williams; parents, Hamil and Lydia Williams; uncle, Harold Williams; brother-in-law, Frank Jr. Akers; and a niece, Sheila Akers.SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at Printy Funeral Home, Carthage, with burial to follow in Chili Cemetery with military rites.VISITATION: 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.MEMORIALS: MDH Hospice or Hancock County Volunteers for Diabetes.ARRANGEMENTS: Printy Funeral Home.Condolences may be expressed online at - See more at:
