Albert Eugene Heim, 91, of Cisco, passed away Thursday morning, June 15, 2017, at Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno, IL.
Albert was born May 23, 1926, in Leeds, IA to Albert Peter and Amie Iris (Floyd) Heim. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Delores June Hughes on May 9, 1945 in Decatur, IL. She passed away January 4, 2009. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad. In retirement, he was a lay minister for several churches and nursing homes.
He is survived by four children, David Heim of Portland, OR, Linda (Chuck) Schutz of Sierra Madre, CA, Doris (Jon) Malone of Marion, IL, Sandra (Jim) Smith of Cisco, IL; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Trummel of Lovington, IL and Helen Seuss of Lincoln, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; an infant daughter; and one sister.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Albert will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017, Graceland Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Macon County Honors Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Marion Medical Mission, 1412 Shawnee Drive, Marion, IL 62959. They furnish and install shallow fresh water wells in Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia in South Africa.
