Reverend Barbara E. Zwetz, 67, of Washington, passed away at12:06 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 at her temporary residence in East Peoria.
Barbara was born May 5, 1946 in Granite City, Illinois to Kurt and Ruth (Dieffenbach) Zwetz.
Among those surviving are one sister, Janet (Mark) Henning of Arlington, Texas; sister-in-law, Bobbie Zwetz of Washington and four nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Zwetz.
Barbara was a graduate of Washington Community High School and Illinois Wesleyan University. She earned a Master of Divinity degree at Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston.
She was an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church and served in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference for a period of over 25 years. Cities she pastored in include Streator, Owaneco-Buckeye, Moline, East Moline, Port Byron and Mt. Vernon.
Barbara was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington. She loved being a pastor and reading, studying and sharing the Gospel. She cherished visiting with friends and people she met thoughout her life.
Funeral services for Barbara will be Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Evangelical United Methodist Church with Pastor John Hauck officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington. Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements.
