Rolland Devor

Rolland Harley Devor, Jr. 78 of Creal Springs, passed away on Saturday December 14, 2013 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan in Mt. Vernon.

He was born January 4, 1935, in Centralia, son of Rolland Devor, Sr. and Mildred D. (Crocker) Devor. He married Rephella Mae Wotherspoon on August 10, 1957 and she proceeded him in death on September 3, 1990. He married Janice Draper on January 25, 1991, and she survives in Creal Springs.

In addition to his wife he is survived by son Rolland H. Devor III and wife Lori of Cedartown, Georgia, three daughters: Rachel Bryan and husband William of Bluford, Rebecca Butts and husband Greg of Iuka, Renee Eddleman of Christopher; a step-son, Timothy Cook and wife Emily of Cheswick, PA; three step-daughters: Terry Toon of Flora, Marjorie Workman of McCleansboro, Julia Hutnagel and husband Mark of Murphysboro; 8 grandchildren and 18 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren; two brothers: Duane Devor and wife Rose of Centralia and Robert Devor and wife Vikki of Brazil, IN; two sisters: Dolores Devor and Esther Devor both from Centralia; several nieces and nephews and others that called him ”Dad” and “Grandpa” through his ministry.

Mr. Devor graduated from Salem High School in 1952, he then attended McKendree College in 1954. Rolland served in the United States Army. In 1980, he moved to Xenia and he received his exhorter's license at Garrett-Evangelical Seminar in 1984. He was a preacher for several churches and he retired in 1997. Until he became ill, he was still preaching at Macedonia and Dahlgren. He helped with the Epworth Youth Camp in Louisville, Illinois. Rolland took many mission trips to Mexico and two trips to Haiti. He enjoyed stained glass and wood working. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral Services for Rolland H. Devor, Jr. will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Demaree United Methodist Church in Centralia with Pastor Mark Doane and Dr. Roger Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery with Military Rites accorded at the grave site by American Legion Post 446 and VFW Post 2055. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. In Lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to Epworth Youth Camp for a Scholarship in memory of Rolland and will be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, which is in charge of arrangements.
