Meribah Jean Laughlin, 86, of Litchfield died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at 5:45 a.m. in Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care Center in Litchfield.
Funeral services for Mrs. Laughlin will be Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. in the St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield. The Rev. James Tinzmann will officiate, and burial will be in Greenwood-Fairview Cemetery in rural Nokomis. Visitation begins Tuesday, the day of the funeral, at noon. The Plummer Funeral Home of Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.[Savutek] [Quality Flooring]Mrs. Laughlin was born on March 23, 1927, in Pana to Arthur and Mary Elizabeth (Cahill) Wardall. She married William Harold Laughlin on Dec. 24, 1944, in his parents' home in Shelby County. He preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2001.
Her parents; one son, Dr. Mark Laughlin; one granddaughter, Maribah Jean Brown, in infancy; and two brothers, Forrest and Robert Wardall, also preceded her.
Mrs. Laughlin is survived by two sons, Dr. Larry (Jane) Laughlin of Woodbine, MD, and Dr. Lonnie (Debbie) Laughlin of Litchfield; one daughter, Linda (Robert) Brown, R.N., of Cheyenne, WY; 12 grandchildren, Bart (Gabriell) Laughlin, Sara (Andrew) Laughlin-Horcher, Seth (Lauren) Laughlin, Kyle (Sarah) Laughlin, Justin (Jody) Laughlin, Chad (Alison) Laughlin, Heath (Lindsey) Laughlin, Andrew (Courtney) Laughlin, James Laughlin, Stephen Laughlin, William (Carolyn) Brown, and Jeffrey (Gail) Brown; one sister, Alice Harrison of Orange County, CA and 23 great-grandchildren.
A 1944 graduate of Pana High School, Mrs. Laughlin served as church secretary alongside her husband in the churches he pastored. She was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church and of the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, both in Litchfield.
Her family suggests memorials be directed to her church.
