Anna Evelyn (Davis) Newell, age 101, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Evelyn was born June 13, 1921, in Bloomington, IL.
Evelyn became a Christian at seven years of age. Evelyn graduated from Illinois State University and Moody Bible Institute. She served 13 years as a Christian Education Director in Bloomington, IL. She taught elementary grades in El Paso, IL for 8 years, and at Carl Sandberg School in Springfield, IL. for 18 years. She volunteered for 25 years at Memorial Medical Center and was very active at Cherry Hills Church in Springfield.
In 1970, Evelyn married Rev. H. I. Newell. In 1967, Rev. Newell had founded Hope Evangelical Free Church in Springfield IL.
Evelyn was proceeded in death by her parents, Walter and Lula Davis, her husband Rev. Newell, her sister Essie, and her brothers William, Lester, James and Lawrence. Evelyn is survived by her loving family, as well as her many kind and amazing friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West in Springfield IL. Visitation will be held at Cherry Hills Church, 2125 Woodside Rd., Springfield, IL. 62711 on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 10 AM until 11 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM. A graveside service will be held that afternoon at 2:30 PM at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, IL.
