Donna Kay Reed Brodie Barrick passed away quietly at her home January 28, 2017. Donna was born to Donald Reed and Bessie Evelyn Leighty Reed October 14, 1942 in Monmouth, Illinois. She graduated from Macomb High School in 1960 and received a Secretarial Studies Certification from Gem City College. Donna married John William Brodie July 1, 1961 and they have two children, Donna Denise (Stricker) and Monte William. Donna spent many of her adult years in the community of Victoria, Illinois. On August 18, 1990, Donna wed Ronald L. Barrick. Donna spent many special years as a pastor’s wife in Illinois parishes and towns: Hooppole; Ashland; New Salem; Bethany and Sanner Chapel. Donna and Ron retired to Branson West, MO in 2008, where Ron resumed his career as pastor for Edgewater Community Church, and Donna a pastor’s wife.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law and is survived by her husband, Ron; her children Denise Stricker (Stephen) and Monte Brodie (Brandy) as well as two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol Moon (Bill) and Corliss Kehrwald (Jim); mother-in-law (Harriet), Ron’s sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Hickman (Tom), Debbie Coats (Brad), Sandy Osborne (Dennis), Kay Webster as well as her grandchildren, great grandchild, nieces, and nephews. Donna also remained close to her former sisters-in-law and their spouses throughout her life.
Donna was strong in her Christian faith. She had many hobbies throughout her life including quilting, scrapbooking, interior decorating, flower gardening, creating greeting cards for friends and family. She took to heart her role as a pastor’s wife and made any house they lived in a special home where she enjoyed entertaining their church families as well as her own family.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Harold Barnett and Clif Crockett officiating at the Edgewater Community Church (202 Edgewater Village Drive), Cape Fair, MO. There will also be a memorial service February 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Victoria United Methodist Church (102 Washington Street), Victoria, IL.
