Eleanor Cox

Eleanor S. Cox, 92, died peacefully at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, June 3 at Bickford Cottage, Champaign.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8 at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Dr. West, Savoy.  Rev. Dick McGuire will officiate.  Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery, Rossville.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service at the funeral home.
Eleanor was born in Hoopeston, on October 6, 1923, the daughter of Louis H. and Mary Ernst Schlecht.  The family moved to Rossville when she was 2.  She was a graduate of the Rossville schools and the University of Illinois.
On December 25, 1950 she married Rev. J. Henry Cox.  He preceded her in death in 1992.  She is survived by a son, Jay, of Champaign and a brother, Richard, of Danville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Eugene, and a sister, Mary Louise.
During their married life Eleanor and Henry lived in Champaign, Bloomington and Peoria.  After Henry’s retirement they lived in Bloomington and spent many summers in northern Minnesota.  She also enjoyed the privilege of many trips to Switzerland to visit relatives from her mother’s side of the family.  Always active, she enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, golf, and her horses in her youth.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington.  She was also a 50 year member of PEO.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Bickford as well as Carle Hospice for their kindness and support.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Carle Hospice program or a charity of the donor’s choice.
