Gail Johnson, age 75, of Naperville, IL passed away on January 25, 2017 at her daughter’s home surrounded by loving family. She was born January 20, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne and Winnifred (Thornton) Spahr.
Gail was a 1960 graduate of Ankeny High School and a 1964 graduate of Simpson College. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority while in college and made lifelong friends through the sorority. She dedicated herself to her career as an elementary school teacher. Gail was also an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and didn’t miss a game. She was an adoring grandmother who spent her free time of retirement caring for her grandchildren and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
Gail is survived by her two daughters Brittany (David) O’Carroll and Annakay (Alex) Silva, both of Yorkville, IL; her five grandchildren: Brooke, Jacob, Daniel, Brennen, Marco, and Tanner; her brother Roger Spahr and sister Nancy Spahr.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Joliet Area Community Hospice for their loving care to Gail during her illness. We appreciate all the family and friends who have supported and loved Gail. Family is honoring Gail's wishes for a private family memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Brain Tumor Association www.abta.org
