Rev. Dr. John Robert Shear, 66, of St. Louis, MO, left us while surrounded by family on February 24, 2023 from Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer. He resided in the Soulard neighborhood with his wife where they enjoyed a lively community with their dog Duke.
He served in the Presbyterian Ministry for 28 years, specializing in young adult and youth development and was also Professor of Religious Studies in the bi-state collegiate areas. Havis, his family of two children, Lauren Addison (John Addison) and Brian Shear (Christina Shear), six grandchildren, Corleone Johnson, Tai Edwards, Kaylee Shear, Sebastian Shear, Gianna Addison, and Xavier Addison, and his step children Joseph Havis (Jody Cox), Grace Havis (Adam Jones), Timothy Havis, and BethAnne Havis, and great-grandchild, Violet Havis. John was preceded in death by John's father and mother, Robert and Katherine Shear, and Gavin Addison.
We all know he loved golfing!!! He now has two strong legs and already has the best golf score he's ever had. We know he loved playing cards!!! He is the winner of every card game right now. As much as he was loved by the people of God, he was also loved by God and they all rejoice together now in heaven and on earth.
