Antionette Kay “Kay” McClarey, 80, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016.
Kay was born August 10, 1936 in Bell City, MO, the daughter of The Reverend Charles Eastin and Anna Naomi (Williams) Eastin. She worked in Christian Education most of her adult life and was a member of First United Methodist Church. A resident of Primrose Retirement Community, Kay and her husband Jim were leaders of the Sunday afternoon chapel service which they founded in the spring of 2015. Kay married James P. McClarey on June 23, 1957 in Girard, IL.
Kay is survived by her husband, Retired Reverend James Park McClarey “Jim” of Decatur; children: Janet “Jan” McClarey Haggerty (Keven) of McHenry, IL, and Reverend James “Jim” Charles McClarey (Lisa) of Pekin, IL; grandchildren (Jan’s) Ashley Oberhuber (Ryan) and their children: Tyler, Christian and Simeon; Sarah McClarey and her children: Jonah and KJ; (Jim’s) Rachel Paetow (Jason) and James Eric McClarey (Maggie). Kay is also survived by two sisters: Phyllis Dorene Adams (Roy) of Littleton, CO, and Charlotte Collingwood (Dick) of Lakeside, CA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John McClarey (Carole Noland) of Decatur.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter Jeanie.
Services to celebrate Kay’s life will be 3 PM Friday, November 4, 2016 at First United Methodist Church; visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Private burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First United Methodist Church, with UMCOR on the memo line.
