Kenneth L. Burrus, 59, of Peoria, IL died Monday, June 15, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born on March 12, 1961 in Cincinnati, OH to Herb and Marie (Roberts) Burrus. On May 17, 2003, he married Joy L. Schlesselman in Peoria County.
Ken is survived by his wife, Joy; brother, John (Maria) Burrus of Peoria; and parents, Marie and Ed Hill of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his father, Herb Burrus.
Ken started working in construction at a young age at Sheridan Road Lumber and later for Worthington Builders. He started his own business, Ken Burrus Home Improvements, before he turned 40. He was proud of his work to repair and remodel everything to do with a home and he could solve problems that others couldn’t handle.
Ken’s first love was fishing and he also enjoyed being outdoors; whether that was in the woods, by the Illinois River or in many of the fresh water lakes in Florida. He took great pleasure in catching, cleaning and cooking fish for his friends and family. He cooked and shared many meals with hundreds of people over the years.
Ken was also good at fixing his truck and cars and loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Ken had a great sense of humor. He loved to help people, especially elderly and disabled people, and families with children. He was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
