IGRC pastor, the Rev. Dr. Lisa Scott-Joiner, 57, died Jan. 11 in St. Louis.
Rev. Joiner began her ministry in the Wisconsin Conference, transferring to the former Southern Illinois Conference in 1985, where she served East St. Louis Aldersgate for seven years before beginning a ministry in the chaplaincy that spanned almost 28 years – first at Alton Memorial Hospital and later, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She transferred to the Missouri Conference before returning to the Illinois Great Rivers Conference Jan. 1, 2020. At the time of her death, she was also serving East St. Louis Trinity UMC as pastor.
Visitation and a Time of Reflection for Dr. Joiner will be Sunday, Jan. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. at East St. Louis Trinity UMC. The funeral will be at noon Monday, Jan. 20, at Union Memorial UMC in St. Louis, Mo., with visitation two hours prior to the service. Internment will be in Milwaukee, Wis.
