Rev. Dr. Michael Douglas Mayfield, age 66, of rural Pittsburg, Illinois, passed away suddenly at 11:08 PM on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the OSF Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Michael and his beloved wife of 43 years, Vickie, were visiting daughter Sarah Wanck, son-in-law Gabriel Wanck, and grandson Hudson Wanck at their home in Washington, Illinois.
Mike is also survived by son Adam Mayfield of Orlando, Florida, and daughter Leah Mayfield of Rantoul, Illinois – as well as a sister, two brothers, and many extended relatives. He was a 1969 graduate of Marion High School, and had recently retired back to the Marion area after serving United Methodist congregations throughout southern and central Illinois for more than thirty-three years.
Arrangements for Rev. Mayfield have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, in Marion, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1201 N. Fair Street in Marion followed by internment at Marion’s Rose Hill Cemetery.
