Norene Griest Ball, 68, of Bloomington, passed away Monday (April 11, 2016) at her home surrounded by her family.
Norene was born June 17, 1947, in Kankakee, the daughter of Howard and Clara Shroba Griest. She married Paul Ball in 1986.
Survivors include her children, Jennifer (Kevin) Tatroe, Windsor, Colo., and Adam (Shaun Taylor) Hemphill, Washington D.C.; a grandson, Hadden Tatroe, Windsor, Colo.; a sister, Theresa (Leonard) Harness, Manteno; and a brother, Phillip (Cynthia George) Griest, Elk Grove Village.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Norene was a passionate community advocate for diversity, equality and the empowerment of women and minorities. She loved reading, journaling, travel and quiet moments alone and with those she loved.
According to Norene’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. Her memorial service will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the YWCA McLean County, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the YWCA,www.ywcamclean.org/norene.
