William Don Ekstrom Jr., 80, of Tolono passed away at 8:45 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 22, 2015) at Newman Rehab and Health Care Center, Newman.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Tolono United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Al Simonson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Freese Funeral Home, Tolono, is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. Ekstrom was born on June 28, 1935, at Rock Island, a son to William and Edna Runyon Ekstrom. He married Sharon Campbell on Feb. 11, 1989, at Humboldt; she survives.
Also surviving are seven children, Mike (Cindy) Ekstrom, Will Ekstrom, Jon (Hidee) Ekstrom, David (Cheryl) Ekstrom, Kathy (Nathan) Lewis, Deb (Maurice) Weiler and Angela Frazee; 11 grandchildren, Deven, Sabreena and Matt Ekstrom, Britany (Kenny) Wagner, Cassandra and Jeremiah Brock, Billy Lewis, Michael (Lynsey) Weiler, Megan and Whesley Weiler, and Cameron (Shelby) Frazee; seven great-grandchildren; a brother; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He served as minister in the Tolono and Pesotum United Methodist Churches before teaching high school in Homer and Westville.
He enjoyed woodworking, riding his BMW motorcycle, camping and traveling.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Tolono United Methodist Church.
