Are you a young adult? Are you considering vocation ministry through the church? Would you like to experience a variety of new, growing churches? If you answered "yes" to these questions, the New Church Road Trip Experience is designed for you.
The Office of Congregational Development of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference is offering a "road trip experience" August 2-6, 2013, for young adults who are considering vocational ministry. The details are still being finalized, but the trip will leave from Springfield on Friday morning, August 2, and return on Tuesday evening, August 6. A more complete schedule will be available as final arrangements are made.
The purpose of the trip is to expose young adults to exciting, new congregations, expanding their thoughts regarding the possibilities of future ministry beyond their current life experience. At each church, participants will have a chance to hear the story of the congregation, ask questions, and interact with key leaders.
The trip will include a significant amount of travel via 15-passenger van, so space is limited.
Interested young adults must apply to participate, including a reference from their pastor or Wesley Foundation Director. All participants must be at least 18 years-old and must have graduated from high school in 2012 or earlier.
If complete applications are received by June 5, 2013, applicants will be notified by June 9. The final deadline for applications is June 20, unless the trip has filled prior to that date. Applications received after June 5 will be responded to by June 26.
